Teaching

The department provides knowledge for students, develops habits and skills in the range required for dealing with basic tasks and duties for their planned commanding and professional posts. Knowledge in emergency medicine principles in conditions of big accidents and natural disasters are taught in the subject called Disaster Medicine. Application of BATLS/BARTS principles and procedures are emphasized so that military medical service personnel could act appropriately in the pre-hospital care. The subject of Military Health Service Organization in Peacetime acquaints students with conditions of medical service operation in peace time, with tasks and principles of armed forces health care support and issues linked to medical service management which are the basics for understanding and right application of other military medical branches knowledge. It gives students knowledge and principles emerging from documents and NATO standardized agreements. Further to this education the department provides knowledge and experience for the activity of medical service bodies and facilities in crisis, war and other emergency situations. The department applies military and military and professional knowledge into specific conditions of military medical service operation which respect both military principles and demands and principles of humanity, law and particularly Geneva Agreements. The department co-operates with the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove and the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove, the Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education in Prague, Czech Medical Chamber, Emergency Medical Service of the Hradec Kralove Region and other specialized companies and organizations in further training and specialization activities. The department takes part in making specialized medical care standards and in organizing continual education of doctors. The department is a coordination workplace in the field of research work in the Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medicine, Military Health Service Organization in Peacetime and Social Medicine. The department participates in optimizing the organizational structure of medical units, garrisons and facilities, in working out principles of their operation and ways of their control in peace and wartime. It develops data and proposals from these fields for conceptual bodies of the Czech Armed Forces Medical Service. It processes information from NATO directives and regulations and recommends their practical use and implements them into teaching. It cooperates with civil bodies, particularly with the Czech Republic Ministry of Health bodies, in the issues of cooperation of civil and military health care in emergencies, and with forming rescue systems. The department provides expert activity for the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence, for the Military Medical Agency and provides consultations for the Military Medical Service field leading workers. It provides publication activity focused on needs of educational and teaching process and passing scientific information. The department leads education of talented students within the framework of student research and pedagogical activity. It participates in dealing with assignments within the organizational structure of the military health care in peacetime, it is a consultant and expert workplace of the Emergency Medicine and General Medicine for the Czech Armed Forces, and it takes part in implementing and using computer technology in military health care in the field of therapeutic and preventive care and teaching.
