Prof. MUDr. Roman Chlíbek, Ph.D., graduated from Jan Purkyne Military Medical Academy and from Charles University’s Medical Faculty in general medicine in 1989. He has profiled his expertise and military careeer within the Army of the Czech Republic in general medicine, later in preventive medicine, epidemiology and vaccinology. He acquired professor degree in hygiene, preventive medicine and epidemiology. He retired from military at the rank of colonel of general staff in 2020. In terms of academic career, he has taught for Military Medical Academy and then for the Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence in Hradec Kralove at the positions of senior lecturer, group leader, head of department, Chair of the Faculty Academic Senate, Vice-Dean responsible for external relations and development. In the period 2009 to 2013, he was appointed the Dean of the Faculty. At present, he has hold the position of the Head of Epidemiology Department. He has been a member of a number of national or international expert societies and the author of numerous expert publications. He is the Chair of the Czech Vaccinology Society and leads the epidemiologic group at the Czech Ministry of Health. The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Military Health Sciences elected Roman Chlibek the candidate dean on 24 November 2020. The University of Defence Rector has appointed him in the Dean office as of 1 February 2021 for four-year period.
